Reflexology is a form of bodywork that focuses primarily on the feet. The theory behind it is that there are "reflex"areas on the feet, hands and ears that correspond to specific organs, glands, and other parts of the body. It is believed that applying pressure to these areas can promote health in corresponding organs via energetic pathways.
I perform a balanced mix of Thai and Chinese traditional techniques which enable you to relax, bring balance to your body and improve circulation. However I strongly believe that it is important to combine these techniques with the Western knowlegde like Myofascial release.
This concept was furthered developed by physiotherapist Eunice Ingham into the modern practice of Reflexology. Pressure is believed to send signals which balance the nervous system or release chemicals such as endorphins which help reduce pain and stress. Reflexology is a popular alternative therapy but is recommended as a complementary therapy and should not replace medical treatment.
How Does It Work?
Following treatment, you will feel calm and relaxed, and maybe even a bit sleepy. Occasionally, people feel nauseous, anxious, or tearful, but this is only temporary and considered part of the healing process.
